We, adult content creators, live very similar lives to YouTubers. Hell, some of us are YouTubers too. I am. Over the last year and a half I have dove deep into YT land. I follow a big variety of channels, but one YouTuber I really fell in love with was Lilly Singh. Honestly it's hard not to. Lilly is a comedian, actress, rapper, feminist and self made millionaire. She made Forbes 30 under 30 list, and won a people's choice award. She went to Kenya last year and worked with women in a local village who make custom jewelry which is sold to give other women in third world countries a better education. She has 11.4 million subscribers, 1.8 billion views. She launched a campaign called "Girl Love" where she strives to end the cycle of girl-on-girl hate, and she truly understands what it means to support other women rather than compete with them. She is using her platform to promote the things she is passionate about - and I respect that so much.
Honestly I'm not a big fan of Superwoman's content on her main channel, for me it's too vanilla and directed towards a younger audience (still watch every video though). But her vlog channel is the most inspiring channel I've ever seen. Seeing her grind everyday motivates me to work harder. Watching her vlog while she was writing this book made reading it a little more personal for me. I work a lot myself, and sacraficed a lot of friendships to spend more time working, I don't regret it but it gets lonely sometimes. Knowing I can count on her vlog really positively impacts my day. It's like having a friend to hang out with everyday who is driven and wants to see you do better too. Sometimes I watch her videos and I'm like "howwwww do you get soo much done in a day" She's like the Beyonce of YouTube.
I'm writing this is because Lilly wrote a book. A supporter (shout out to interested_party1) bought it for me for my birthday back in September and it finally arrived last month. My book was taking too long to arrive so I ended up getting it on Audible first. The book is called:
"How To Be A BAWSE"
Bawse\noun: a person who exudes confidence, hustles relentlessly, reaches goals, gets hurt efficiently and smiles genuinely because he or she has fought it all and made it out the other side.
This book isn't like traditional self help books, this one is so colorful and interactive and productive. It's kind of like an activity book that helps you stay focused. It's filled with her personal experiences and encounters with people she met that really altered her attitude both personally and professionally. She talks about making sacrafices, taking chances and using every experience as a lesson. Some chapters that really resonated with me are :
From Part 2
Chapter 21. Climb the ladder - In this chapter she talks about how her success on youtube hasn't really impacted her success in acting and it's a totally different ball game going to auditions and being uncomfortable. I could really relate to this because MV has been a site that I have felt relatively successful on, but recently I joined MyFreeCams and starting from the bottom again is humbling, and I know that as I climb that ladder I will learn things on my own and it will be beneficial in the long term.
From Part 4
Chapter 48. Promote what you love - which is why I'm writing this. I love to promote people I see working hard, who are kind to others, and are constantly working to improve themselves. Positive discussions rarely occur when you are talking about negative things. I try not to engage with drama, and things that will bring me down. It's just not productive, and my time and energy is always better spent promoting the people I appreciate.
I hope you guys check out this book! As a feminist, and sex worker, who makes a living making my own content - this book gave me so much insight and really made me feel confident about my future relationships both personal and professional.
Wow, you are a total winner with a fabulous winning attitude. You will go far no matter what you pursue. How did you come to these realizations? It shows maturity and wisdom, beyond your years.

YouTube has been a HUGE part of my life since i was 16, even in some of my darkest times YouTube was there for me and was my way to escape from reality for a few hours a day. To this day i still watch some of the some creators and its pretty cool to see them grow, get married, have kids, even make it onto TV and get roles in HUGE movies. I'm forever thankful for YouTube and how much my favorite YouTubers inspire me.
💗Love this💗I will have to check this book out
