How to Deal With Depression As a Camgirl

We all know that the cam industry can be very harsh, and for girls that fight with depression and other mental illnesses every day, it is even worse to deal with this world.
Of course there is no magic secret to solve this but here are some tips in how I've been dealing with my problems since I started camming:
- Don't compare yourself with other girls: We know that our minds can be very tricky, and will make everything to make us feel down, so NEVER compare yourself with other girls. You are unique!
- Take your time: You are not doing anything wrong when you feel bad and just can't work, or when you see that other girls spend more time than you online/doing videos. We all have our limitations and we gotta respect ourselves.
- When you wake up energized: Take a shower, do your makeup and WORK. Work until you can't anymore because you don't know if the next day you will still be feeling that way. Also at the end of the day, you will have that sense of mission fulfilled.
- Try to not overthink: Well...I know this is the hardest one and that our monkey minds never shut up but try to keep your mind busy, watch some movies, go for a walk, drink some nice tea...
- Good environment: When my home is messy I feel very uncomfortable. So always try to keep everything in place and clean. Burn some incense, can be very good to your mind too!
- Feel beautiful: Because you are beautiful! Take a shower, put your favorites clothes on, do your makeup routine and take some nice pictures! I am always blaming myself for being horrible and ugly and when I do this routine it makes me feel more confident.
- Meet other camgirls: Having support is always essential and it is even better when it comes from people that understand your daily fights. You will see that you are not alone!
- Learn how to say NO: There are a lot of bad guys on the camsites, so learn how to say no for the things you don't want to do and don't feel guilty about it.
- Get medical help: If you are feeling some of these symptoms (fatigue, lack of interest on things you loved, loss of libido, disturbed sleep, continuous sadness, feeling anxious and guilty, having suicidal thoughts or harming yourself...) you really need to see a doctor. You are not being weak and it is not a shame to get help!

Hope you all have an amazing day!

Yes Girl!! Yes!!!
There needs to be a better hidden fourm to talk about this without customers seeing.
Because the adult industry can be hard but also wonderful.
People need to be able to talk about these things without feeling like they could risk their income.
As alot of people I know survive or are surviving by their income, which they would not be able to produce at a normal job. ❤❤❤
ambercutieforums has model only forums!! This is definitely an important issue
Love this
Thank you 💓 Well written!
Maybe even consider part time camming? that way you have changes of environment and your rent isn't only from camming so the pressure isn't as intense.
One reason to choose be a camgirl is that if you're down you're not going to loose your job, you can do less hours and it is ok. You can be more tight in your bugget but be hidden at home when you feel auwful. This days can be use for editing and uploading stuff so you still feel you have done something with your day.
I think this are great advices for everybody.
yes !!

This is like exactly what I needed. Really thanks.
Thank you so so so much for this post!
Wow Penny thanks for sharing your thoughts and ideas with us. I'm not a cam model but I am good friends with one and I know how hard the business can be.
I have depression, anxiety & bipolar so I can only imagine what it's like when you're trying to keep it together in this line of work.
I know most people think you just sit there and flash a bit for a while job done. But as I have learned from my friend there's hell of a lot more goes into it that people don't see and the pressure you're under to perform on demand and the certain requests.
So again thanks for sharing and I hope your words get to a lot of people and help them out.
All the best sweetheart 💖💖
Thank you for sharing this. Another tip is to set an alarm for your medication daily (if you take any) since we can get distracted and forget. This has saved me many times!
Today is the hardest day I ever had in my work, so many shit happening at once...but reading that I've made a change in others life with my tips came on the right time ! Thank sooooo much you all for those amazing words!
Beautifully put sweetheart

These are such beautiful tips. I actually recently made a Youtube video about depression if anyone is interested. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWsOQRrIR7k&t=13s
I love this. I was a camgirl for three years and ended up quitting because people were getting very aggressive and weren't willing to pay for anything anymore. I already had massive depression/anxiety, and that was just making it so much worse. I was having breakdowns when I got off cam because of all of the aggression.
While I still have depression, it's so much more manageable now that I have ways to handle it. I use some of your suggestions, too! Tea is always great for a moment of winding down and quieting the mind. Putting on makeup and dressing yourself up is GREAT for confidence.
I love this! Thanks for sharing!
It's really difficult for me not to compare myself to other models. But I always try to think about what makes me unique and special. It really does help! 💕
It is so challenging being a cam girl and dealing with bipolar disorder but I'm glad I'm not alone. this was a great relatable read. Thanks for posting!
I have bipolar disorder too 💙 stay strong, girl!
I'm also bipolar. It's rough, but great to know we're not alone!
Love this, I'm not suicidal but this is all extremely relatable and I'm sure most of us would agree that you do need to be mentally tougher than most to get through this line of work. Sure this job can be fun, but it can be just as tolling if not more so depending on one's way of thinking, environment, social interaction, and so on just as you listed. Great job girl!
Wow. This was such an inspirational piece thank you so much for sharing ♡ this gave me a lot of hope and just know you are wonderful
This is such a wonderful article. I really needed this advice today. Gonna go clean my house and take some time. xxx THANK YOU!
thanks for writing this , ur amazing
Well said. Have a nice day now.
This is so important and helpful! I really need to make friends with other girls but it's so hard!
Thanks for the post. You're very right about this! Self care is huge and too easy to neglect. Have an awesome day
As someone who struggles with depression and anxiety, I appreciate you taking the time to write this up.
Self-care is so so so important (for everyone not just those of us with depression). Eating right and exercising can help a lot (gut health has been shown to impact mental health!) But at the end of the day, if nothing is working speak to a medical professional. Anti-depressants can do wonders, and don't be afraid to tell your doctor if the ones you try aren't working for you! There are many options and everyone is different. Also, reach out to someone if you need to talk, my inbox is always open and there is always the hotline which is an AMAZING resource 1-800-273-8255
This is wonderful💋so happy you shared this with us!
Oh my god, so many of these pieces of advice are things I've known I should do, but never could. Especially the one about waking up energized, and not comparing yourself with other girls. I'm so quick to feel like a failure when I see how well friends are doing with their shows or vids.
Thanks so much for writing this. Hopefully reading it from someone else will help reinforce it in my head.
