These tips have kept me safe on my journey.

Hi, my name is Jessica Grabbit. I have been happily working in the Adult Industry for six years. Here are a few tips and tricks that have kept me safe on my sexy sex worker journey. Hope you enjoy them, and thanks so much for reading this.

Never give out your location:

Guys love to know where you are in hopes one day you might say you’re in the same state as them and maybe one day, you will bump into him at the local grocery store, laundromat, etc., and his online fantasy can be an offline reality.

But let’s really think about that. As a sex worker, you have a 32%-55% chance of experiencing sexual violence in any given year. Knowing that statistic are you comfortable with a random person knowing what state you live in?

But Jessica, this guy has been camming with me for more than six months. He sends me gifts. Shouldn’t I be able to let him know my state so he feels like he knows me?

I still say ‘no’. For me, I believe a sex worker’s privacy/anonymity could be the difference between life and death.

Always verify the client: What does that mean? Verifying a client just means that they are who they say they are. You can do this very easily by using Google's search engine. If you have his name, email, or a picture of him, paste it into the search engine and see what happens. You can also go a further step in verification by asking him for references of other sex workers he’s been acquainted with.

When do you verify? I usually verify everyone who is booking me whether it’s a party (as well as website links), a private party, a meet and greet, sugar daddy, gfe type relationship.

*I also inform them that this information is for my eyes only and will be destroyed after verification*

Always have a travel-text buddy: If you don’t feel comfortable letting people know what you’re doing or who you’re doing it with, no problem. Just make sure you have at least one person you fully trust that you can text pertinent info (i.e. addresses you're at, license plate numbers, etc.) to and who can help you just in case of an emergency.

Always have an emergency reserve of $500 accessible to you at all times: $500 sounds like a lot, but let’s think about the worst case scenario.

You’re booked for a paid gig (whatever it may be). You go and for whatever reason, you want to leave on your own accord, but you can’t. The promoter won’t pay you or take you back to the airport and the lodging promised was only if you held up your end of the deal. No problem for you. Why? Because you have enough money to get a cab, book a hotel room, grab a bite to eat, and get a ride back to the airport the next day. Having a reserve eliminates the need to rely on anyone other than yourself. (It also looks bad ass and lets people know they can’t control you).

Thank you for sharing these amazing tips! Such important crucial points! Especially about the money reserve for emergencies. Just having something to fall back on in case of emergencies without feeling the panic of having to pump out 3 videos ASAP is a stress-reliever.

Very good idea about the $500. I would even say, don't go if you can't have at least $300 available to you, in case of emergency. It just puts you in such a vulnerable situation.

Thanks Jessica! These were some great tips! :) I'm so sick of people asking what state I'm in, it just feels so creepy! I always just say America or the east coast. It's really none of thier businesses.

This is great advice. Nice article.

I have been fantasizing about meeting my fans and having sex with them... my boyfriend really loves the idea. any advice on this?

A lot of performers get into escorting. It would be a great way to make some extra cash, and I find that I really enjoy appointments with fans, and they are more appreciative.

Great advice, I really liked the point about making sure you have a cash reserve! I don't work in person but it's a rule I apply to my daily life and has gotten me out if some tough spots. Thanks for the tips. :)

Though I am not planning to do sex work other than online, still online business can also be really scary. My country is smaller than many cities and there are some creeps who are thinking they could search out my real name, "real" accounts, want to add me there, see where I live...

I would be a little stuck, since I am from the UK, and some states are bigger than the four countries (and small islands) that make up the UK, nevermind ' my area' :).. taken from online thingy-me-bob!

1. Alaska is equal to 7.05 UKs
2. Texas is equal to 2.86 UKs
3. California is equal to 1.74 UKs
4. Montana is equal to 1.56 UKs
5. New Mexico is equal to 1.29 UKs
6. Arizona is equal to 1.21 UKs
7. Nevada is equal to 1.17 UKs
8. Colorado is equal to 1.11 UKs
9. Oregon is equal to 1.04 UKs
10. Wyoming is equal to 1.03 UKs
11. Michigan is equal to 1.03 UKs
