We know that many of you, like us, are trying to get your heads around the new FOSTA/SESTA bill. First, we want to emphasize that the MV Team is absolutely against human trafficking and any sexual activities involving minors. Those are crimes and individuals committing those acts should be judged as dangerous criminals. However, we also want to add that we feel the bill is too broad. It targets many platforms and communication tools that adult performers rely on for both safety and creative promotion.
On ManyVids, adult-content creators—you, our MV Stars—create titillating digital images and games to entertain your fans. MV is an online adult community. Although the vast majority of communications (and earnings) are on-platform, we know that quite a few of you enjoy using features like Skype vid shows and contests such as Dinner Date raffles, Meet-a-Fan and Fuck-a-Fan in your creative strategy and fan outreach.
We are adapting our features to comply with the law. The Skype video chat feature is being removed (and is being replaced with a generic Video Chat button; soon, MV Stars will be able to customize the video chat services they want to use!). The other three options, mentioned above, are no longer allowed on MV. Unfortunately, all non-compliant services and store items will be deleted from the platform.
We believe in your resilience—and creativity! We know that you will adjust and offer other imaginative, legal ways to stay in touch and get closer to your loyal fans.

If anyone is looking for an alternative to skype, Discord is a good option. It's free to download and is far better than Skype imo.
Do you know off hand if Discord protects your IP address? It's a little known fact that Skype did/does not.

Looked it up, and yes, Discord is very good about protecting your IP info. There are no cases of info hacking within Discord itself.

I would love to be able to log on MV and do a private chat. It could fill the void that not having skype has presented. It would also be nice to know that it is secure and safe for us to use. I would definitely sell private chats here if that was possible. Having a calendar attached to define the date and time of the chat would be really appreciated as well. I would happily enter my available time blocks into a calendar system that people could choose from.

Microsoft will live monitor any calls they suspect may involve nudity or questionable language, so I'd recommend just not using it. Particularly if you're an advocate of internet privacy. No one should have access to your private calls.

It has to do with Skype's terms of service, which don't allow any sexual conduct. They actually go through and screen people's calls, it's disgraceful. In addition, some people conduct negotiations for in-person-meets via Skype. I think MV just doesn't want to be associated with any of that.

Skype no longer allows nudity or anything obscene starting May 1st.
Many sites are changing their TOS nowadays because they will be held responsible for any illegal user content on the federal level. It's easier for Skype to say no nudity or sex work allowed than it is for them to make sure everyone is of age and a consenting participant.

It can affect you, definitely. As they state, the bill is incredibly broad. That said, if you do in-person-meets and you can prove that it's 100% platonic, no sex happens, you should not have any issues with law enforcement.

MV is getting rid of the Skype option, because Microsoft has come out against using the video service for sex related purposes, because of this bill. It's more compliance on MV's part than anything else.
If I were you, I would divest from using Skype, since they no longer support what we are doing. Thankfully, since this is the internet, when one service goes down, at least three more take their place. I'm sure there will be platforms available for video chat in the coming weeks.
