Anyone who knows me knows I am cheap as f&%!. If I can find something more affordable, or make it myself, I will. Being a cam girl and clip maker has really shown me that I will do anything to save a buck. Now, don't get me wrong, if I have to spend the money I will, but if I get something cheaper, or make it myself, then why not? When I first started out in this business, I literally had nothing, not even a good webcam. I used what I had until I could make money to get better things.
First, let's talk about lighting because lighting is everything! Ring lights are great, but they can be expensive. So I went and bought floor lamps with bendable necks, then I purchased HD LED light bulbs. These bulbs are amazing! They help make colors brighter and whites whiter, which is perfect for videos and for camming. Then what I did was I took a piece of computer paper and taped it over the lamp to prevent that bright glow that can appear on you on camera. [Side-note: LED lights do not get hot, please don't do this with regular bulbs!] I also have a little selfie ring light that clips on my phone or computer, which you can get for like $5. This really helps when taking pictures or videos on my phone.
Another thing I noticed was that a lot of girls had those studio backgrounds. I looked to buy one, but instead, I decided to go to my local discount warehouse store and see what I could find. I got some lightweight throw blankets for $5 and what I do is tack it to my wall. This way my photos will have a nice solid background, and I can get any color I want/need. Plus, I can use it on my bed as an actually blanket if need be. Who doesn't love an all-purpose item?
Now I don't know about you, but my lack of lingerie was sad. I had none, nada, nothing. Lingerie or a nice bra and panties set can be super expensive, especially when you're buying a lot. I happen to have a Burlington by me that has a massive women's intimates section. I can get a ton of very nice, and sometimes brand name, things and pay under $10 for each. Now I'm sure not everyone has this store by you, but there are plenty of stores that sell cheap lingerie, you just have to shop around and know where to look. Check discount stores, liquidators, or warehouses, you'd be surprised the things you can find.
Obviously, not everything can be made or be cheap. A good webcam and computer are definitely not things you want to go cheap on. But if you shop around, you can find some great deals out there. I went to Best Buy and got my webcam on sale for 20% off. I also checked out there refurbished computer section. Without going into all the computer specs, they had a fantastic computer that retails at $1,000 for close to $300. They had a massive selection of great computers for super cheap because they were refurbished. Amazon will also have good deals on computers too.
Being frugal doesn't mean you have to put out cheap looking, crappy content. You can find ways to be creative and save yourself some money and still put out good content. And for the things you can't do yourself, just shop around. I promise you will find amazing deals out there, you just have to know where to look!

A lot of lower end 'professional' lighting can be had on ebay and other places can be had for reasonable prices. I like to use lowel tota lights with umbrellas. Backlighting is very important. It can make even an amateur video shot on a phone 'pop'!

Girl same! I’m relatively new in the adult scene. I’ve done modeling and my premium (actually just made this account yesterday!) and I did nearly the same a couple months ago for my snap. Bought 5$ lamps and a little more expensive light bulbs. I also found these awesome color slides that are normally expensive as hell! Good to know I’m not the only prudent one!

For buying lingerie and clothing use Aliexpress. Very very cheap, because Amazon sellers n stuff buys stuff from there. Just gotta plan 2-4 week delivery ahead

I use blankets, sheets, or wrapping paper for backdrops. And I always hit up a few dollar stores to find decorative stuff for holidays, etc. Saves so much money!
For anything on sale but computers or laptops especially, I always recommend going to slickdeals.net website, they collect the best deals from all over, including bestbuy. I've seen $1000 laptops on sale for $400 there for instance. Feel free to PM me, I'll be happy to give out suggestions on computers/laptops.

All of those are amazing ideas! I would add buying in bulk in home items when you get paid and then use the money you save for lingerie/toys/equipment etc. I check supermarket and grocery store discounts and buy in bulk items that don't expire that I know that I will need. For example the pet store had 1+1 offer in canned cat food so I stocked up for my cats. That saved $40. Get into this mentality and at the end of the month you have hundreds of dollars saved that can be invested in your business. It sounds like a lot of work, but once u do it a couple of times you wonder why u haven't been thrifty before. Thanks for sharing your article
