"Summer Sales Sadness" is a term that I have created to express depressed or disheartened sex workers affected by lack of sales throughout the summer.

Many new MV Stars, online sex workers, content creators, and cam performers are feeling discouraged by the sudden change in sales. They were once making several sales a day, and now sometimes they can go days without making one! Without any telltale signs as to why this was happening, many newbies begin to wonder if it’s them.

Now don’t get me wrong; more experienced sex workers can also become saddened by their lack of sales and support. Nobody is safe from the summer sales sadness. Anybody can feel insecure about their content. Anybody can wonder that maybe their sex work days are over, even if they just started.

If you feel as if you’ve caught the summer sales sadness, it’s okay! It’s normal! You’re not the only one feeling this way. You are not alone. The first step to eliminating this feeling is to figure out why exactly you’re feeling this way.

Maybe you believe you don’t resemble society’s “mainstream,” popular content creators. You might think that you’re too skinny or too fat. You could be a POC or LGBTQ+. You have worked so hard on your content with no reward. You start believing that because you don’t fit into a certain group, your sales are lacking.

There’s also the possibility that you’ve started in the summer (like me) and think that because they’re so many prettier, more well-known, models out there that your content is disappearing in the vast swarm of vids being uploaded at the same time. You think that more already-established models equal less traffic for you.

Maybe, and I feel like this is what happens the most, you just don’t think you’re good enough; that your content isn’t good enough. Nobody wants to buy something that isn’t interesting or sexy enough, right?

Wrong! Everything I just stated above is wrong. Your content is still just as good as it is in the winter. Your buyers are still into your work. You’re not being forgotten or left behind. Many sex workers, new and old, have to deal with a lack of sales during the summer months (June through August). It’s a widely known thing to happen. It’s also known as the “dry season.” There’s a straightforward explanation to why summer is the dry season.

Buyers aren’t online as much during the summer season. They aren’t sitting on their computers or staying on the couch, scrolling through the phones anymore. The people who are buying your content while staying away from the harsh winter weather are now going on vacation with their families, going to the beaches, staying out late with friends, and so forth.

Buyers are now spending their time outside of their homes, soaking up the nice, warm weather. I bet a lot of you are also spending more and more time outside as well.

The simple truth is: It doesn’t matter how strange or “boring” you might think you or your content are, somebody out there is into it and is willing to spend a lot of money on it. Manyvids is very good at directing traffic towards your content. The problem right now is that there isn’t much traffic to be directed.

You are amazing. You are beautiful. You work very hard at your content and building your brand. Now, show that pride. It’s okay to become dispirited throughout your career. It’s bound to happen at some point. What you need to understand is that it’s human nature to become discouraged. What matters is what you do to help yourself overcome those feelings. Whether it be to work harder or even to take a break, your mental health comes first.

If you really want to make this your career, hard work and time must be put into your brand. There will be a lot of ups and downs, but in the end, it’s worth it. Don’t give up on your dreams. Things will get better, and your summer sales sadness change just as quickly as winter will come.
