“Mesa Puesta” is a visual exploration of the physical sensations, emotions, and thoughts that have accompanied me for years when it comes to eating. If an invitation to eat is the natural invitation to life, then where does the lack of appetite come from? When the need to restrict food intake becomes recurrent, it is labeled “anorexia nervosa,” a term that appears constantly in medical manuals but also in newspapers, magazines, and on television. A set table should, above all, be a space for pleasure, yet here it holds an uncomfortable conversation between the intimate aspect and the social dimension of eating disorders.
