I get called into my boss’ office for a “quick chat”—about my outfit! It turns out that I haven’t been as inconspicuous about how much weight I’ve gained—and how poorly fitting my clothes have gotten as a result—as I hoped. Stuttering and blushing, I apologize for my unprofessional appearance and tell my boss about how I’ve gotten so fat that my pants don’t button anymore. I’m even more mortified by his reaction. He doesn’t believe me and wants to see for himself! Not only that but he wants me to stand there silently, in just my bra and my too-small trousers, while he stares and “thinks about what to do about this situation.” God, this is so embarrassing
