And this isn't click bait! After living with an ileostomy for 5 years I underwent major reconstructive bowel surgery at the beginning of 2024 to regain 'normal' bowel function. Unfortunately the surgery was a catastrophic failure, and I ended up in worse shape than ever before. After many months of suffering, my reversal surgery is scheduled for the end of November. I will have my j-pouch (the reconstructed portion of my small intestine), anus, and part of my pelvic floor removed in a radical surgery that will result in a permanent ileostomy bag.
