1.Hardware Dislodged: Dr. Maggie 9000 carefully walks into her office late Friday afternoon and it is clear she is glitching (e.g. repeating herself, moving robotically, randomly freezing and/or blinking out of sync). Turns out she tripped and fell walking in her new heels and the fall dislodged some of her internal hardware. she remained online, but she is experiencing a number of malfunctions. Luckily as a faculty member she gets free tech support and she has made it to her office. [~1 mins] 2.Power Off the Computer: Professor Maggie 9000 calls tech support to get service. Unfortunately for her, she is having a hard time articulating what happened, clear evidence that her systems are damaged. Unfortunately for her the technician on call does not seem to know that Dr. Maggie is a Magnea 9000 series fembot, and as a result does not understand what is happening. So when she says that she fell and damaged her computer, the technician thinks it must be her laptop even after she tries to clarify the problem, including that she is supposed to be going on a date that night and needs to be fix fast. So when the well meaning technician tells her to power down the computer and go home it presents a problem for her already damaged computer brain. [~2 mins] 3.Does Not Compute: Normally Maggie 9000 would easily resolve or disregard the contradictory instructions she just received, but in her damaged state her computer brain wants to do both: turn her computer brain off and go home. Unfortunately, her computer brain is still functioning well enough to understand that she can’t do both. The end result is that a very confused Maggie 9000 malfunctions more and more as she tries to fulfill both objectives and yet recognizes that she can’t do both. The problem is reflected by her saying things like “Power my computer off. Go home for the weekend. Error. I I I cannot do both. But I must power my computer off. Go home for the weekend. Error…” Soon she’s standing in her office, pivoting one direction and then the next, her arms bent at night degrees and her movement very robotic as she tries to make sense of the contradiction. As she does her systems overload more and more and soon things like her human emulation chip and emotional response chip are not responding. Finally, it is too much for her systems and she experiences a major malfunction and shuts down, eyes crossed, and bent forward at her waist. [~7 mins]
