SFW Baking Vlog! Yummy, yummy, yummy! The kitchen was smelling absolutely divine with the scent of the maple cookies wafting through the house! The temptation was so high to take a little bit of a nibble, the true reward for all of the hard work :) ~Come on and bake along with me~ 1/2 Cup Unsalted Butter (room temp) 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar 1/4 Cup Pure Maple Syrup 1 Egg (room temp) 1 TSP Vanilla Extract 1 TSP Baking Powder 240g All-Purpose Flour Dash of Salt Mix up the dry ingredients of Flour, Baking Powder, and Salt until well combined and evenly distributed. Beat the Butter and Brown Sugar together until fluffy, and then add in the Egg, Maple Syrup, and Vanilla Extract - mix until combined. Add in your dry ingredients in 2 to 3 batches and only combine till it comes together, make sure not to overmix the gluten. From here you can either make them into balls, press down, and make criss-crosses on top with a fork and place into the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for around 15 minutes (only right until the edges brown ever so slightly) or you can roll out the dough between two sheets of parchment paper, cut your shapes, but place right into the freezer without taking the shapes apart. This makes it so much easier to be able to pull the shapes from the dough!!! I'm thinking next time to do some actual icing instead of just a glaze to give it that more professional look and how I would be able to actually decorate them. I am quite the stickler for perfection, however, I heard that the glaze really makes them and it's not as overbearing as making the typical icing/frosting that is used for sugar cookies. Future ideas for future vlogs~
