We’ve just finished a big hearty meal, and we’re feeling it. Our bellies are full and bloated, and before we know it the burps start coming. One of us lets one out, then the other answers right back, and suddenly it’s burp after burp as we go back and forth. We laugh, giggle, rub our stomachs, and keep trying to push the air out, feeding off each other’s energy and making it even harder to stop. Just when we think we’re finally done, the aftermath hits Mila. A hiccup slips out, then another. We pause and wait, watching to see if they’re gone yet, only to crack up when I hiccup again. It turns into hiccup after hiccup, little breaks filled with anticipation and laughter, until we’re both giggling every single time it happens. Full bellies, silly vibes, and the burping chaos turning into nonstop hiccups.
