May the Fourth be with you!

The MV Team is excited to announce something new - Winning Wednesdays! Whenever there are no other contests running, or just to spice things up, we’ll be randomly transforming some Wednesdays into fun and unexpected Winning Wednesdays.

On these select Wednesdays, we will be hosting a unique themed contest that will only last a few hours and give you the opportunity to win many different instant cash prizes!

Aside from being shorter, these contests will work just like they normally do & will give you all something to look forward to!

We will announce these contests a day or two prior, so you will be able to upload your themed photos to the contest page before it begins. Get your fans ready for Winning Wednesday madness, and when it begins - start collecting votes to see who will finish in 1st place!

Due to a great suggestion from MV girl Foxy Farrah, with the 4th of May right around the corner, it's the perfect time to kick off our first Winning Wednesday with an MV Star Wars party! The MV girl or Studio who gathers the most votes between 1:00pm - 5:00pm EST (on the 4th of May) will win a $300 cash prize!

Oh, we will also be giving $100 bonus to the MV girl or Studio who uploads the most creative/fun themed photo!

Because this is our first Winning Wednesday, we will give you a head start and you can upload your photos now!

We want to see your best Star Wars themed pics! Get creative with your light sabers ladies, and let the fun begin!

May the Fourth be with you!

**** We are very sorry that our first contest idea has offended anyone. We did not have any malicious intentions, and were not aiming to make this racist in anyway. We were trying to take the occasion, and have some fun with the models. Seeing as though some of you have found it offensive, we apologize and are now therefore changing the contest theme because we care about the opinions of our models and never want to come off as something we are not.

Thank you all! I am over the moon!

congratulations beautiful! <3

I hate that you can buy votes! Not everyone can spend that kinda money. I free vote is fair but I guess this is not going to happen.

Kelly Belle May 2016

Will this be free votes only or is this contest another paid vote contest? It says 'just as they normally do' but we've seen two formats.

RyderWilde May 2016

I really don't think enough was mentioned about the actual issue with this idea/theme.
First of all, let's get the history of what Cinco de Mayo represents (quoted from britannica.com):
Cinco de Mayo, Spanish: “Fifth of May" , also known as the Anniversary of the Battle of Puebla, holiday celebrated in parts of Mexico and the United States in honour of a military victory in 1862 over the French forces of Napoleon III.
When in 1861 Mexico declared a temporary moratorium on the repayment of foreign debts, English, Spanish, and French troops invaded the country. By April 1862 the English and Spanish had withdrawn, but the French, with the support of wealthy landowners, remained in an attempt to establish a monarchy under Maximilian of Austria and to curb U.S. power in North America.

RyderWilde May 2016

On May 5, 1862, a poorly equipped mestizo and Zapotec force under the command of General Ignacio Zaragoza defeated French troops at the Battle of Puebla, southeast of Mexico City; about 1,000 French troops were killed. Although the fighting continued and the French were not driven out for another five years, the victory at Puebla became a symbol of Mexican resistance to foreign domination. The city, which was later renamed Puebla de Zaragoza, is the site of a museum devoted to the battle, and the battlefield itself is maintained as a park.

RyderWilde May 2016

The day is celebrated in the state of Puebla with parades, speeches, and reenactments of the 1862 battle, though it is not much noticed in most of the rest of the country. In the mid-20th-century U.S., the celebration of Cinco de Mayo became among Mexican immigrants a way of encouraging pride in their Mexican heritage. Critics observed that enthusiasm for the holiday celebration did not take off with a broader demographic until it was explicitly linked with the promotion of Mexican alcoholic beverages and that many U.S. festivities tended to both perpetuate negative stereotypes of Mexicans and promote excessive drinking.
Cinco de Mayo is not to be confused with Mexican Independence Day, which falls on September 16. The latter holiday was established in 1810, some 50 years before the Battle of Puebla occurred.

RyderWilde May 2016

I do believe Manyvids had no intention of offending anyone with their "Winning Wednesday" idea of a Cinco de Mayo Theme although I also understand why it could be taken as a bad idea. Not only for offensive purposes but also for the fact a class action suit could follow, I do think manyvids made the right decision to change themes. But I would have liked to see "May The Fourth Be With You" Used around the fourth of July when most people actually use that quote.

RyderWilde May 2016

Well I correct myself about "May the Fourth Be With You" as I was not aware there was an official Star Wars day, lol. I still won't be participating though!

FaunaGrey May 2016

I am happy to see this change and am so proud to be a model for you, MV. The fact that you listened and respected the outcry is amazing.

Thank you for your kind words. As mentioned above, our intention was NEVER to offend anyone. We are happy to hear your opinions, and make changes when we see fit. We prefer to know our models are comfortable and happy above anything else & comments like this one are what make it all worth it! <3 May the Fourth be with you :)

I cant believe how USA people in general are so sensitive about mexicans and latin people in general. why someone think its racist to dress up in typical mexican costumes? Would you be offended is I,as argentinian would wear a stars and stripes underwear or costume? Is that offensive? Probably is offensive for some americans to dress up as mexicans. Why do you celebrate cinco de mayo then?
I'm not gonna participate in any contest anyway,Just felt offended about all this people saying that this contest is "offensive"

Booty4U May 2016

Dressing in stars & stripes isn't the same as dressing up as a stereotype of an entire race of people ("American" is not a race). In the USA, many people are VERY racist toward Mexicans and South Americans, yet they use Cinco De Mayo as an excuse to get drunk and do "brown face" (blackface, but as Mexicans instead of black people), without knowing anything about the actual holiday. Plus it's just offensive for any race to dress as a stereotype/mockery of another race... like... how is being racist NOT offensive???

CoriiSiren Apr 2016

Whatever this contest ends up being in the end, can we PLEASE make it to where guys can only vote for ONE model per 24 hours so the models can actually move in the contest, rather than a million guys voting for EVERY girl, EVERY day?

Little Puck Apr 2016

yooo, a million times seconded. this would make things so much better

CoriiSiren Apr 2016

thank youuuuu for agreeing. IIt just makes more sense logistically. One vote, per model, per 24 hours, per account. NOT IP because everyone uses VPNs to double and triple vote.

oreob4by Apr 2016

a million thirdededed. I don't get how guys can vote for every single girl??? how is anyone meant to change rank? Their competitions need a really good sort out

CoriiSiren Apr 2016

YASSS @ thirddededed lolol I don't get it either... like, that's why we didn't change rank for the last contest but being stuck in like the same 5 ranks, back and forth.

KyraJune Apr 2016

i agree so much with this and  should be valid in the next contest with free votes as well in this one too . wasnt fair that one guy could vote multiple girls a day so they get all the free stuff from everybody .. that way we just gave away bunch of stuff away and didnt earn much cuz we didnt move up in the contest and worked alot too with not much benefit :( . thank you Corii for point this up !

KyraJune Apr 2016

oh ! i like manyvids contests but yeah i agree it needs to be organized better so it actully helps the girls too,, is not fun when we loose more than we gain :(

CoriiSiren Apr 2016

thank you for agreeing ♥

Arikajira Apr 2016

In the contests that are free votes only, maybe have them capped at say five votes that each person can give each 24hr period, rather than having people only able to select one girl.

Since these are only running for a few hours at a time, and also include paid votes, I am hoping they won't run into the loop hole of guys collecting up freebies by voting for every contestant

RyderWilde Apr 2016

Agreed

CoriiSiren Apr 2016

also a good idea

LustyBustyLark
LustyBustyLark deleted May 2016

But then girls like me would NEVER get any votes at all. Okay, pity party of one. But a limited number of votes would be good. Maybe 5?

Caitlyn87
Caitlyn87 deleted May 2016

I agree with Lusty on this, maybe it does need to be limited but why can't a guy vote for a few of his favorite models at least?

jeni4wyld
jeni4wyld deleted May 2016

Totally agree with Arikajira! If they only select one girl then peeps like me will never have a chance. A cap LIKE 5 or so girls over 24 hour period is cool, and cap the models too cause there are some models who vote every girl too. OR for FREE votes and no paid voted don't allow incentives. I see models complaining that they lost more then they gained in the last contest but they chose to offer for free votes so complaining to me is ridiculous. It was their choice to do it. So FREE votes with no paid allow see who your true fans are without any incentive but that they like you... I betcha that would change the top ten around a bit.

Ackbar Apr 2016

I am actually quite dismayed at the changing on the contest, because I feel not enough was done to dissuade the themes of racism and cultural appropriation. The Star Wars franchise is known for introducing iconic scenes, tropes and devices into our collective consciousness, and one of them is the Mos Eisley Cantina scene.  Cantinas specifically refer to an establishment of Mexican or Spanish origin; in the movie the cantina was replete with odd looking, outrageously dressed aliens, in danger of erupting into violence at any time (which it did, RIP Greedo).  Therefore I feel the Manyvids Star Wars campaign is racist and offensive.  The Cinco de Mayo contest fiasco is still fresh in our collective thoughts, and simply whitewashing it with an intergalactic sheen does nothing to alleviate the previous negative connotations.

Ackbar Apr 2016

As long as Manyvids has the audacity to proceed with this Star Wars campaign, we will always think of that abhorrent cantina scene, and the cruel and misplaced Mexican association, and racism on a global scale. I have a separate petition to George Lucas to change every different edition of Star Wars from "Mos Eisley Cantina" to "Mos Eisley Hipster Sake Bar," And I encourage Manyvids to drop their campaign so we can all erase the stench of Mexican cultural appropriation.  Ask the Empire, I am no one to be trifled with.

CoriiSiren Apr 2016

You're reaching, man.

You're accusing Star Wars, and therefore ManyVids, for cultural appropriation and racism, whilst using the name Ackbar, with his picture? You're trolling, right?

Anxious to see the entries.

Very cool contest! :hot_hot_hot:

RyderWilde Apr 2016

Interesting. I guess my opinions about the last contest have no importance.

Extremely disappointed in MV for this "theme." Will definitely not be participating.

anthroguy Apr 2016

Here's a question, planning to do anything on September 16th? The real date of Mexican Independence.

Or maybe models of Mexican or Irish descent do something to commemorate the Saint Patrick's Battalions, Catholic Irish American soldiers who quit the US Army and joined Mexico during the Mexican-American war, only for some to be hunted down and executed as deserters by the US.

Or how about models of Mexican descent dress as heroes of the Mexican war of Independence and lynch in effigy a "frat boy" dressed as a stereotypical Cinco De Mayo partier

Fun stuff! :):):)

Arikajira Apr 2016

Thanks honey, that being said, for me the colour PINK if clothing makes me eek! There is a running joke  with friends that I am allergic to pink! :D  it may be something to do wth being brought up as a very girly girl, and even now my rebellious streak is still set to high!

Arikajira Apr 2016

Future themes that could be fun would be maybe,
Storybook/naughty nursery rhymes,
Pirates,
60s hippies,
Sci-if
Or even maybe 'purple' hey! I like purple, having the pictures  of everyone dressed in purple would make me a happy bunny! (Plus it is an easy theme fror most to get involved in)

KyraJune Apr 2016

i love purple also ! thats a nice idea Arika !

Are the Votes Free Votes ? ( 1 free vote per person per model ? )
or are Paid Votes ? ( 5$ = 50 votes ? )

There will be 1 free vote per day, and additionally paid votes can be purchased (1$=10 votes)

Kelly Belle May 2016

Is it another 'top 3 gets 100% of earnings'??
